Construction Update: Vegetation Station

The actual construction is done per se, but the last two weeks have seen some additions to the exterior that have upped the outdoor appearance dramatically.  I'm no longer living in a rocky dirt pit!  Hooray!  The landscaping was done, the trees were planted and the sod laid.

I'm loving it.  I was tracking in so many rocks my front entry way looked like a quarry.  Plus, all my patio furniture is covered in dirt dust.  Hopefully the grass will start keeping the dust down to a minimum!

I hope it all survives this drought we've been having...

I'm Goin' In....

Well actually, I'VE ALREADY BEEN IN!!!  This past Friday, I had my PDI, or Pre-Delivery Inspection, of my condo!  Basically, I walked around with an inspector and pointed out things that needed fixing or items that were incorrect from what I ordered.  Luckily, everything I found was cosmetic (no big scratches on the floors, or missing items) so there should be no reason why my closing date of July 12th should have to change!

I tried to get some pictures inside once we were done, some turned out better than others!  Don't mind the blue tape on the walls - those are areas that need to be repaired.  This is a pretty picture-heavy post, so beware!


The Outside

There will be a partition put up between my door and the window on the left hand side (from the house to the brick pillar).  It has not been installed yet.  Here's the balcony.

Voila!  Pretty nice eh?  My favourite part is the hardwood floors...I keep talking about them and exclaiming how gorgeous they are! I love the stain colour.  Won't be long now!

Construction Update: Is That a Cupboard I See?

I love construction updates, and it's been a while since my last one!  My closing date is 5 weeks away, and things are starting to come together!

The railings have been put up for the balconies.  The ashphalt has been laid for the front walkways too.  (Sorry it's so crooked!  It's challenging taking pictures out of car windows when the construction workers are there!)

Here's a close up of mine!  You can see the address numbers have been put up on the front post too.  The light is on in my kitchen and if you look closely, you can make out the faint, dark outlines of my cabinets.  That's also my air conditioner wrapped in black on my balcony.

The posts have gone in for our parking spots.  This is also where we can plug our cars in during those cold winter nights!

I had to include this last photo because it's so weird.  These guys were grading the front lawn of both my building and building C (the one pictured).  Again, we were trying to go quickly since there were a lot of people about.  Somehow, we managed to centre the church down the road perfectly in the car mirror.  Total accident.  I thought about cropping it out, but there's no way to achieve that again so I left it :P  These guys were great and were trying not to get in our picture, but we wanted them there!  They gave us a nice wave and a thumbs up!

I'm hoping that they will schedule my pre-delivery inspection soon so I can get some interior pictures!!

Construction Update: Bricks, Lights, and Mail, Oh My!

I wanted to get this post out sooner, but I have been super busy with work this past week and didn't get a chance to go over and take some pictures.  I had my first day off today and made it a priority to go check the place out!  The tradesmen managed to get a lot done in the past 3 weeks!

The siding and soffits have been completed on all 4 sides now.

The stone work for the steps out front has begun as well.

I HAVE AN ADDRESS AND A MAILBOX!!!  My mailbox is right near my unit which will be nice.

The patio light has been installed over my sliding door.

And the wires are in for the air conditioner and possibly the rough in for the gas BBQ.  (It was hard to see because of the wooden railing, but you can see the wires in the botton left corner of the balcony.)

Here's a shot of the three buildings in the community so far (there are 2 more to go.)  Mine is the middle one with the brown roof :)

So cool!

Construction Update!

I just got home from a band concert.  I am such a band nerd - but I love it!  It was a great concert...for those of you not in attandance, you missed out.  Seriously.  Here we are in all our glory!  I'm the one in the front row on the end reading the program.  Told ya.  Big nerd.

Anyway, on to other fun topics.  Construction update!!  I took a drive by today and the siding is done on two of the four sides.

The soffits are also being completed on the two "front" sides.

Inside, the drywall is going in and some interior doors are being installed.  You can see all the happenings inside through the windows but sadly it's impossible to photograph!  There is a bit of drywall leaning against the wall of the lower level unit on the right hand side.  See, I'm not crazy.
